Becky Dorner, RD, LD Interview

This month’s Professional of the Month is Becky Dorner, RD, LD. Becky is the founder/president of Becky Dorner & Assoc, Inc, a dietetic education and information firm, and Nutrition Consulting Services, Inc, a dietetics consulting firm, providing services to over 100 health care facilities in Ohio since 1983 and employing 25 RDs, plus office staff.

Becky’s mission is to improve the care for older adults, which has been the inspiration for over 400 presentations, locally, nationally and internationally, as well as over 150 articles in professional journals, magazines and newsletters.

Becky Dorner & Associates, Inc. has published over 60 nationally recognized health care books, manuals and CPE programs related to the care of older adults and offers a free email newsletter to subscribers of over 18,000 health care professionals. Becky has held more than 15 board positions in local, state and national dietetic associations and is currently the Secretary for the National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel.

The honors and awards Becky has won are numerous, so I would encourage readers to go onto her website, www.BeckyDorner.com.

Becky will be celebrating the 25th anniversary for Becky Dorner & Associates this January, 2008, and alongside her will be her three children as well as her husband, who happens to be her high school sweetheart.

Although Becky felt she wouldn’t be able to share much about her experience, I highly recommend this interview, because, naturally, she does have a wealth of experience and knowledge to share with listeners. If I had to encourage listeners to pay attention to one thing, however, it would be the importance of building a support team around you in order to really create a business that becomes self-sustaining and can support you as you desire to move onto other things in your life and still enjoy the fruits of your hard labor in creating a successful enterprise.
