Christine Gerbstadt, MD, RD, CSSD, CDE

Welcome to this month’s Professional of the Month interview. This month’s professional is Christine Gerbstadt. Christine is a registered dietitian, certified diabetes educator (CDE), a certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD), a national spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association, as well as a medical doctor. She is the President of Nutronics, Inc, a nutrition consulting corporation. Her first DVD will be released the end of winter, 2008 which is entitled Nutrionics Health.

Christine also does personal nutrition and lifestyle counseling and consulting for First Watch, the third largest daytime-only restaurant chain, as well as consulting and writing for Prevention Magazine, SELF Magazine, Shape Magazine, and OH Magazine (Obesity Help/Bariatrics Today). She also conducts weight control research for Drexel Univserity in Philidelphia, PA.

Christine is an excellent example of a leader with a vision, which to expand her DVD into a series that will offer people choices in how to learn about improving their health. A big message that Christine shares in the interview is to ‘JUST DO IT!’ Sure, you have to plan, but RD’s have a way of planning, planning, planning, and often will hesitate just getting out there. Be sure to listen to her other pearls of wisdom by listening to the interview.

Christine’s website, http://nutritonicshealth.com, will be live soon, so be sure to visit it to learn more about what Christine has to offer.

I really enjoyed listening to Christine Gerbstadt's interview. I could definitely relate to her recommendations for us nutrition professionals to just get out there and not over analyze everything that we do, when starting a private practice. I have been there and done that! I look forward to viewing her new website when it becomes available and I would actually love to discuss with her how she juggles her medical practice with her nutrition practice. As both a RD, and an RN (and CDE, and ACSM Health-Fitness Instructor), who is working towards becoming a Nurse Practitioner, I feel that Christine and I share many common interests, and I would love to discuss these with her. Congratulations, Christine, on your upcoming DVD. It sounds amazing. Thanks for a great interview, and for being a great role model (you too, Margie!--this is a great service!)

This comment is an attempt to contribute to an article today 5/3/09 on MSN.com, "12 Food Additives to Avoid" by Jean Weiss.
It cites Christine Gerbstadt, MD, MDPH, RD, ... as the source.
Instead of leaving a blog comment, I preferred to leave it with Dr. Christine Gerbstadt, since I think it will have broader impact.
Please pass along this comment to her.
It's about the last (12th) food additive to avoid: Salt
Everebody fears salt nowadays. Isn't salt a natural ingredient found in nature?
In my experience if in a meal I had too much salt--and I can feel the symptoms later, the easiest and most effective, no-cost way to remedy it is to drink as much plain water as possible and preferably 2 or 3 times later after the first few glasses.
This works great and cleans my system at the same time.
Maybe salt is beneficial in this respect and not the other way around.
Thank you for your time.
Jose
